Those of you who know me will realize it’s my birthday this week, so I decided to buy a gold pass for Chevron 7.4 as a present to myself.
The guests were
- David Hewlett - if you don’t know already, who are you and how did you find my blog site LOL.
- Brian J Smith – from SGU (and yes I have been watching it)
- Ryan Robbins – from SGA and Sanctuary
- Suanne Bruan – from SG1
- Sharon Taylor – from SGA
- James Bamford – stunt coordinator for the Stargate shows.
All the guests were at the gold party and I was lucky enough to speak to David, James and Suanne.
The guests all did some great talks and were very entertaining to listen to. I’m rubbish at remembering the best bits, but I’m sure someone’s posted it on youTube by now.
Sadly my camera is broken, so I’m hoping some of you will send me some pics to post. Meanwhile I can put on the official con pics. In case you were wondering, they were all taken on Saturday morning, which is why I’m wearing the same shirt in them all.
Me with David. I think this one’s going to be my new forum icon.
This is now my third con with David. No I’m not a crazy stalker woman, honestly! David’s panels are so entertaining – if he ever gets bored with the movie industry he’d be great doing stand up comedy.
Me with Ryan – party animal (circus monkey).
In one question where the panel were asked what their most unusual job had been, Ryan admitted working in the circus when he was younger.
Me with Brian – he’s a real sweetheart. Brian is pretty new to television, having mostly done theatre up to now and this was his very first con. I get the impression he had a really great time.
Brian told us he was a big fan of twitter and has invited the fans to follow him.

He’s posted his own con pic over at twitter – if you want to check it out.
Me with Sharon - party girl. Shar0n was also at her first con and was a great guest. I particularly loved her part in the Sunday morning stunt demo (see later).
I was lucky to go to Sharon Taylor’s guest panel. One of the things we discussed was Reise, a Sci Fi Series made for the internet that both she and Ryan appear in.

Sharon would have loved for her SGA character to get out of the gate room and go on more missions – what a shame they canceled the show. (I think that sounds like a story idea?).
This is me with Suanne who was a real trooper to come to the con even though she had a cold. She could only make it for the Friday and Saturday, which was a shame because she’s a really funny lady.
Finally this is me with James.
For anyone who doesn’t already know, James is the Stunt Coordinator for SGA and SGU, and he organized a stunt demonstration with Sharon Taylor – including a reenactment of the fight scene he does with Teyla in SGA. He then got Ryan to join them on stage, along with 2 British stunt men (one is Hugh Jackman’s stunt guy and the other worked on the new Sherlock Holmes movie) He then taught Sharon and Ryan 2 separate stunt fights while we watched.
The great thing about going to a con is getting to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. I’ve met loads of great people this weekend and caught up with some I already know. It’s made me realize how much I’ve missed being on the forums.
Hey Nikki,
Great report & pics. It sounds like everyone had fun.
Hopefully David will get DGEEK back up and running smoothly this year. It would great for the squirrels to gather at one place instead of spread all over the net. : )
