Hi there and welcome to my blog site. My name is Nikki.
I am a single mum and I pay the bills working as a computer programmer.
For the past year now, I have also been a fan fiction writer. I write stories based on my favorite TV show, Stargate Atlantis. I have posted a number of stories in this blog including some that are still in progress. The finished stories are also published on fanfiction.net under the pen name welshnikki.
I am also welsh_nikki on twitter, when I remember to post there.
I don’t write the more explicit adult romantic stories, because I’m sure I’d be really bad at it, but I don’t have any problems with people who do.
I host a small fan fiction archive called Squirrel Fiction Network (SFN), which I set up with my friends Kassandra (Mackenzie’s Momma) and Jayne Perry. All the stories there are set in an alternate universe that Kass, Jayne and I have created, based on Stargate but with our own characters as well. Kass is also the artist responsible for the really cool banner at the top of my page.
My favorite actor is David Hewlett, who plays the character Dr Rodney McKay in Stargate Atlantis. I spend a lot of my time chatting to my friends the “squirrels” on David’s dGeek forum, which is part of his blog site. My name on dGeek is welshgirl.
Other Sci Fi shows I currently follow include SG1, Red Dwarf, Primeval, Dr Who, Torchwood and Firefly. I grew up with classic shows like Star Trek, original Dr Who (John Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davidson), and Blake’s 7. I also used to be completely addicted to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I used to read a lot of books before I discovered the fan fiction archives and my favorite author is Terry Pratchett. I have also read a lot of Anne McCaffrey, which might explain my current obsession with dragons:
